The 7th qualifying tournament of the Senior Golf Tour of Andalucia was held today by the golf course “El Rompido”, located in the province of Huelva. The tournament was played under the Stableford handicap format over 18 holes.
The beautiful course of El Rompido welcomed the 59 players that today played the tournament in 3 different categories: one ladies’ category and 2 gentlemen’s categories.
In the only category of ladies, Amelia Hermoso (Añoreta) led the qualification, thanks to a total of 42 points. Amelia is followed by Mercedes Gómez (Real Club de Campo de Málaga), who came in 2nd place with 37 points, and Eulalia García-Estrada (Playa Serena), who came in 3rd place with 35 points.
Naughton Nial, (Senior Golf Association of Andalucia) was the winner in the first category of gentlemen, with 40 points, overtaking Antonio Rosa y Miguel Lozano (Sherry Golf), with 38 and 37 points each one of them.
The victor of the 2nd category of gentlemen was Andrés Pérez (Corta Atalaya), who gained 41 points. Antonio Fernández (Hato Verde) came in the 2nd place with 40 points and John Robilliard (Real Club de Campo de Málaga) came in the 3rd place with 38 points.
The awards ceremony was held after the lunch break, with the attendance of Francisco Cervilla, President of the Seniors and Foreigners Committee of the Royal Golf Federation of Andalucía; Gonzalo García and Lynn Fisher, members of the Seniors and Foreigners Committee of the Royal Golf Federation of Andalucía; and Sebastián Peña, on behalf of “El Rompido”.
Francisco Cervilla expressed his thankfulness to El Rompido for holding the tournament.
With the creation of this committee of Seniors and Foreigners, the Royal Golf Federation of Andaucia, wants to improve the communication with the foreign golfers that play in the golf courses of Andalusia.
