The 9th qualifying tournament of the Senior Golf Tour of Andalucía -the last one before the final match that will take place in Mijas Golf on the 8th of November- was held today at Arcos Golf.
The tournament was played under the Stableford handicap format over 18 holes. The golf course welcomed the 60 players that today played the tournament in 3 different categories: one ladies’ category and 2 gentlemen’s categories.
Chelo Zafra (Granada Club de Golf) led the qualification, thanks to a total of 37 points, and Mª José Yagüe (Hato Verde) came in the second place with 36 points. They are followed by Mohaine Sookdeo (Lauro Golf) who came in 3rd place with 33 points.
Juan Luis Mateos, (Ubrique) was the winner in the first category of gentlemen, with 39 points, overtaking Naughton Nial and Thomas Mcmanus, both of them players of the Seniors Golf Association of Andalucía, and both of them with 38 points.
The victor of the 2nd category of gentlemen was Jesús García (Pozoblanco), who gained 39 points. Adolfo Pedevilla (Seniors Golf Association of Andalucía) came in the 2nd place with 38 points and Antonio Fernández (Hato Verde) came in the 3rd place with 37 points.
The awards ceremony was held after the lunch break. Francisco Cervilla, President of the Seniors and Foreigners Committee of the Royal Golf Federation of Andalucía, expressed his thankfulness to Arcos Golf for holding the tournament.
After this competition, the Final Match will be played at Mijas Golf on the 8th of November.
